Occupational Therapist
Salary: $6,247 – 7,027 / Monthly

THE JOB: The current vacancy requires familiarity working with persons who have a serious and persistent mental health diagnosis, some diagnosis may include schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder with psychotic features and major depression. Under general supervision the Occupational Therapist (OT) will administer standardized occupational therapy assessments. The incumbent will utilize cognitive and functional evaluations to assess client’s functional deficits and areas requiring special attention and supports. OT will provide a written summary making recommendations for follow-up treatment plans. OT will determine on a case by case basis the need for brief individual functional skills training with the individual client in their natural environment. This might include working with clients on activities of daily living, money management, home management, community mobility and independent living skills. This training and support would typically be time limited to achieve a designated goal as stated in the individual mental health service plan. The list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current and future vacancies during the life of the list. The official title for this position is Therapist-Physically Disabled.
THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these knowledge and abilities would be: One year of experience in performing occupational or physical therapy with the physically disabled. Experience in an occupational or physical therapy internship program for developmentally disabled children may be substituted for the required experience on a month for month basis.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy to practice as a Registered Occupational Therapist in California or possession of a valid license issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California to practice as a Registered Physical therapist in California. NOTE: Copies of your certification as a Registered Occupational Therapist or Registered Physical Therapist must be submitted for your application to be considered complete.
